Montreal Lutheran Picnic: August 28, 2022
The 2022 MLC Picnic will be held at Christ the Redeemer in DDO.
Montreal Lutheran Council Picnic
Join us for worship, a picnic lunch, games, and a CLWR raffle on Sunday August 28, from 11:00 until about 3:00, rain or shine.
We'll provide chairs and shade. You bring your lunch and a prize for the raffle. Join your Lutheran sisters and brothers for the day!
Drive north on Sources from highway 20 or 40.
Turn left at Petro Canada station, onto Anselme-Lavigne.
Drive a few blocks west to Westpark.
We've got a large parking lot at 57 Westpark.

Montreal Lutheran Council Annual Meeting: March 31, 2022
The 2022 annual meeting will be held March 31, at St. John's Estonian Lutheran Church (4345 Marcil. NDG). A reception beginning at 6:00 will give way to our opening devotions at 7:00, and a business session. This will include the election of officers: Chair (no nominees), Vice-Chair (Roger Kenner nom), Secretary (Carol Meindl nom), and Treasurer (Pastor Samuel King-Kabu nom). A discussion about the future of our Lutheran congregations in Montreal will follow until a 9:00 adjournment. Council members and other congregational leaders are urged to attend.

Reformation 2017
In 2017, we commemorated the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, when Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses on his church door in 1517.

Joint Lutheran Picnic - 2017
Our picnic was held in new location: On Sunday, August 20 at McCallum Park in the town of Noyan, on the South Shore near the American border. The picnic began at 11:00 with a worship service in the Anglican church across the street.

Service of Commmemoration, Lament, Prayer & Solidarity
A special service was held on Saturday, Feb 4 at 13:00 at St. John's Lutheran Church to offer our response, as Lutherans and Christians, to the terrible events of Sunday, January 29.

The Joint Montreal Lutheran Picnic was held on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 11:00
Once again, Montreal Lutherans gatherws together at our usual picnic site in St. Lazare. This might be the last year we will be able to use these St. Lazare picnic grounds. The shelter from the rain was appreciated.

On Saturday evening, February 27, at 19:00, there was a panel presentation at St. John's Estonian-Finnish Lutheran Church at 4345 Marcil in NDG (Metro: Villa-Maria, then #103 or #162) to explore the topic of the Doctrine of Discovery. At its General Assembly in the summer of 2015, the ELCIC voted to repudiate this doctrine. The talk was well attended, and was followed by a reception.

On Friday evening, October 6, a Luther Table-Talk Pub Night was presented at St. John's Lutheran Church on Jeanne Mance. Not just beer and wurst, but learning about Luther! It was a great evening!

The Montreal Lutheran All-Parish Picnic was held on Sunday, August 23 at the usual place in St. Lazare. The weather could not have been better and everyone had a great time! Photos from the day will be posted soon.

An Open, General Meeting of the Montreal Lutheran Council (Montreal Area Ministry Group) was held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on May 13, beginning at 19:00. There were parishioners and pastors from most of the Montreal Lutheran congregations. Following a short installation service (See below) and refreshements, reports were read (See below). The evening came to a close with the screening of Matthew Anderson's documentary, Something Grand (somethinggrand.ca/trailer-something-grand)

-Lutherans and the Charter of Values
On November 28th, 2013, concerned Montreal Lutherans gathered St John’s Lutheran church to hear presentations from guest speakers and to share personal reflections as we considered our Montreal Lutheran response to the proposed charter. Below is a link to a short video made from this presentation.

-Visit from Michael Harvey
Together with the Anglican Diocese of Montreal, we hosted Michael Harvey, who was here for two days and made several presentations. Some photos will follow.

Celebrating 150 years of Lutheran Ministry in Eastern Canada: November 16-17-18, 2012. Retired bishop William Huras presided, with Conference Dean Annette Smith also be in attendance. The weekend began with a wine & cheese reception at Christ the Redeemer on the Friday evening. A special service, followed by refreshments & fellowship was be held on the Saturday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran Church downtown. Finally, the bishop spoke at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church as part of the regular Sunday morning worship at 11:00.

The Joint Lutheran picnic, helf on Sunday, August 26 at its usual place in St. Lazare, was a great success. Over 100 people, from a wide selection of parishes, turned out for the beautiful, sunny day. Pictures will follow soon.

Henn Paabo, of the Estonian Lutheran Church and longtime treasurer of the Montreal Lutheran Council, passed away on June 20, 2012.

Despite Hurricane Irene, another successful picnic was held on Aug 28, 2011. The clouds did not let loose until all were safely underneath the enclosure. We all enjoyed several hours of good fellowship together.
